Dear Editor

He Puapua is racist pandering propaganda to promote part-Maori as victims with entitlement to equal outcomes, not equal opportunity.

By promoting separate government for part-Maori, Labour seeks to divide the nation into factions and then gather the factions together for the benefit of Labour–not for the benefit of the factions.

He Puapua is not a benevolent gesture to right former perceived wrongs, but a political instrument to curry favour for Labour while baiting National to take up the argument against a separate minority government.

When National takes the bait and bullhorns the universally obvious flaws of separate governments, Labour will reframe National’s voice as anti-Maori.

This ploy diminishes National to part-Maori voters and presents the facade of Labour as the part-Maori champion.

Does anyone think Labour genuinely want to cede any power at all on any front? Not at all. Labour only does what is in Labour’s best interest.

They need to distract from their inept governance, i.e. child poverty, housing, health care, education, unemployment, inflation, lack of critical infrastructure.

He Puapua serves as the distraction. It makes more factions and makes them smaller and less powerful thus increasing Labour’s power.

If He Puapua was a sincere and earnest desire to empower Maori, Labour would not have kept it under wraps.

Our nation faces many challenges and I am disgusted with these divisive political games designed not to improve the safety, health and economic well being of all kiwis, but to be solely politically self-serving.

Signed

Tony
