Journalists love to talk a good game about “speaking truth to power”, but it’s an obvious lie. Journalists – at least, in the mainstream media – are in the business of speaking lies for the powerful.
This isn’t just a conspiracy theory: it’s a stated fact. Media leaders are quite open that they are abandoning truth-telling in order to push political agendas, from anti-Trumpism to climate change alarmism.
If you still don’t believe what they’re openly telling you, just follow what they’re doing.
One hundred days into the Biden administration, The Washington Post is calling a lid on the presidential fact-checking database.
Remember how the media endlessly shrieked that Donald Trump was telling a million, billion, kajillion lies, every day? It was rubbish, of course. Nearly all of the so-called “lies” were just bog-standard political hyperbole – or lies from the media about “lies”. It was also a textbook case of Baader-Meinhof phenomenon: noticing something more simply because you’ve only just started paying attention to it.
The media never bothered counting Barack Obama’s lies, and they certainly didn’t keep an obsessive database of them, or make up ones to fill it.
Now that they’ve got a Democrat back in the White House, they’re suddenly losing interest in politicians’ lies again.
Glenn Kessler, editor and chief writer of the Fact Checker, tweeted late Monday that the team would continue to fact-check President Biden “rigorously” but would no longer maintain the database started under former President Trump[…]
Not surprisingly, the decision to shut down the database just three months into the Democratic presidency after running at a fever pitch during the Trump administration did not go unremarked on the right.
So Kessler did the minimum amount of checking on Joe Biden for a whole 100 days, then needed to go away for a good lie-down for at least the next three-and-a-half years.
Media critic Stephen L. Miller […said] “I love how Kessler has to be begrudgingly pushed into doing the bare minimum that his job requires for 5 whole months.”
The Post reported that Mr. Biden had 67 “false or misleading statements” in his first 100 days versus 511 for Mr. Trump, although the former Delaware senator makes far fewer public appearances and pronouncements than did his Republican predecessor.
“Biden’s relatively limited number of falsehoods is a function, at least in part, of the fact that his public appearances consist mostly of prepared texts vetted by his staff,” Mr. Kessler said. “He devotes little time to social media, in contrast to his Twitter-obsessed predecessor, and rarely faces reporters or speaks off the cuff.”

So Biden, who barely talks and reads from a script he can barely remember at the best of times, is openly given a free ride by the same media which obsessed over (and repeatedly lied about) Trump’s every word and gesture for four years.
They’re not even hiding it any more.
