The vaccine rollout is faster overseas than here, but that might not be a bad thing because one expert wants more debate on the relationship with the vaccine and achieving herd immunity.

Geert Vanden Bossche, DVM, Ph.D., argues that a prophylactic vaccine should be used BEFORE a pandemic – not during one.

Bossche is an expert on vaccines and an independent virologist working in the field of microbiology and infectious diseases. He has worked extensively in the development of vaccines with Bill Gates and GAVI.

“Bossche currently has a fundamental warning regarding lockdown methodology and, more importantly, the mass COVID-19 vaccine rollout.

He is deeply concerned about the interaction between our natural immune system and COVID-19, as well as the manner in which a pandemic develops and how its natural course can be profoundly disturbed by human intervention.

His stated goal is to prevent the emergence of new highly infectious COVID-19 variants and ultimately eradicate the variants that currently exist.”

Bossche argues that a prophylactic vaccine will do the opposite of what is intended and actually worsen the spread of COVID-19. His argument hinges on the development of the COVID variants that we are already experiencing.

the vaccines are not able to prevent viral spread by vaccine recipients exposed to the emerging highly infectious strains of the virus. This is preventing herd immunity from happening.”

Bossche says previous pandemics caused by the Spanish Flu and the Swine Flu lasted no longer than two years because during that time our immune systems learned to recognise new variants based on our previous encounters with the virus.

“According to Bossche, COVID-19 vaccines are likely to increase the infection of the virus because they are prophylactic vaccines, which are designed to prevent the spread or occurrence of a disease or infection by building immunity in individuals BEFORE exposure to a virus or pathogen. He elaborates:

“They (prophylactic vaccines) are not suitable at all for administration to people during a pandemic because the likelihood that a vaccine recipient already comes under attack while not yet being endowed with a full-fledged immune response increases as the infectious pressure augments. This particularly applies in case of highly infectious circulating variants.”

Bossche argues that the original strain of COVID-19 causes mild or no symptoms in the vast majority of healthy people, and that herd immunity will naturally result without human intervention in a pandemic.

Bossche is not an antivaxxer, neither is he against the use of COVID-19 vaccine. He says the vaccines are safe and efficacious depending on the health level of the individual.

For the technical background to Bossche’s argument refer to his address to the 2021 Vaccine Summit in Ohio:

Whether you choose to believe Bossche or not is academic because this infectious diseases expert is simply presenting his view and calling for a debate on the relationship between vaccine and herd immunity.

We are bombarded with media, vaccine producers, politicians and people with vested interests in a vaccine rollout when we should encourage the experts to take centre stage to debate the pros and cons of the vaccine rollout.
