Today’s hypocrite of the day, Maori Party co-leader Rawiri Waititi made a massive fuss about being forced to wear what he derogatorily referred to as a “Colonial noose”. Yet he happily wore it during the election campaign long before he was in parliament where high standards of dress apply used to apply (thanks to Speaker Trevor Mallard lowering the bar and giving in to the lowest common denominator).

He also wore it when giving the PM a hongi, so that clearly illustrates that the stance he took in Parliament was nothing more than a ‘look at meeee, look at meeee, I’m Maori and I need special treatment’ moment.
