I hail from the Naki and when I first left school, after a brief stint as the bog boy in a car sales yard’s chop shop, I came into the employ of one of the local cow cockies. He was a third-generation farmer who was in the habit of squandering the prior generation’s hard-earned cash (as they do), but not in the reimbursement of his workers. I had jumped out of the pan and into the fire some might say. The relevance of this tale about a point that I am yet to make, is that he had a son who was about as useful as tits are on a bull to the said profession.
Being unsuited to any of the jobs about the farm, he made it his sole agenda to pull pranks on the hired hands. Unfortunately for him, my co-worker was equal to the task and a master at turning his own pranks back on the heir apparent.
A hose in the calf feeding shed angled so that it would wet the person turning it on, was turned back in his direction for when the act was required. Or a tedious obstruction placed in a doorway was circumvented by asking him to quickly retrieve an item in the room it gave access to.
In effect, every effort he made at frustrating his father’s minions was thwarted by it being turned back on himself.
I was reminded of this long-lost memory when considering the total lack of respect being shown by the Democrats, media and Joe Biden himself, towards the office and title of President of the United States in their treatment and disrespect of Donald Trump.
There have been past presidents who have done far more outrageous things than insist upon the voting rights of the nation of people they represent yet still retained the respect of the office and title of Mr President.
I saw in a CNN article (no surprises there I suppose) about the threatened impeachments, where Donald Trump was mentioned by surname only. It read Trump this and Trump that. As such it shows a flagrant and blatant disrespect, which no doubt is its intent. No matter how bad the man, never before in the history of reporting by the United States press have I witnessed this level of disrespect and contempt for the office and title of the President.
Maybe we Kiwis and Aussies don’t see it the same way as Americans.
Of course, one of the lessons those tit pulling days of mine was that no matter how careful one can be in the manipulation of environments, what one plans for others has a habit of turning around and biting one on the backside.
Joe Biden may well turn out to be in line for the same disrespect as the incumbent President of the United States of America, especially when taking into consideration that his party’s ANTIFA and woke bosom buddies show no loyalty for favours given.
For the record, it looks as though Joe’s unemployable son may still be a part of his undoing as well…
