On Tuesday night Christchurch suffered another earthquake. It was a significant one. On the Richter scale, it probably would have registered a ten. This was not an earthquake of the type that damages buildings and roads. This was an earthquake of the type that shatters democracy, the ability to speak on equal terms and fair play. This was a shameful attempt to try and knock one of the participants out of a debate or at the very least make it as difficult as possible.

When a person agrees to take part in a debate they don’t expect to have the equivalent of one hand tied behind their back. In Judith’s case, she had both hands tied. I have watched many debates over the years but never one with such blatant disgusting bias. The two moderators are a disgrace to their profession although journalism can hardly be regarded as a profession anymore. Prostitution is a profession and boy did those two prostitute themselves on Tuesday night.

They should hang their heads in shame at the absolute farce they presented to the public. An election debate, of all debates, is where both participants receive the same treatment. This was deliberately not the case in that debate. The whole deplorable circus was staged to favour the clown on the left. For all the favouritism she still couldn’t come up with a trick. Mind you, the audience thought she was a magician judging by the constant rounds of applause she got. I wonder when they last had a face wash because they certainly didn’t recognise her flannel.

If Ardern thought that was a great debate and was pleased with her performance she’s completely deluded. This is not how elections are fought. Not in a democracy where most people expect fair play. She knows she’s incapable of winning against Judith so she uses other disgraceful means to gerrymander the process. This election, courtesy of Ardern, is turning into an absurdity. She’s managed to use COVID to her own ends. She’s stopped others being able to campaign properly, particularly in Auckland where elections are won or lost. She has abused her afternoon COVID slot and now she manages to have her leftie friends put on an appalling debate giving her every last crumb of assistance that they can.

But you know what, as Judith would say, for all of that help Judith still sliced and diced her. That really tells you something about how capable one is compared to the other. The Herald poll as to who won has Judith about ten points ahead. Judith, in effect, was debating Jacinda, the two moderators and the audience and she still won. The panel at the end said the moderators won. Those two are so thick they probably took it as a compliment. Instead, it was a cutting backhander on their scandalous performance.

You could’ve been excused for thinking you were watching CNN, BBC, ABC or any other left wing fake news outfit. It reminded me of what the Donald had to put up with when trying to deal with Chris Wallace. Both that debate and this one ended up not worth watching.  Journalists, so called, are not interested in presenting facts these days. They’re not interested in any form of interview that extracts the sort of information the viewer wants. They just abuse the platform they’ve got to peddle their own narrative.

On Tuesday night democracy lost, fair play lost, journalism as a profession lost and the viewers lost. It could yet turn out that the biggest loser on the night was Jacinda herself.
