Some time ago Donald Trump mistook Jacinda Ardern for the wife of the Canadian Prime Minister. The way she’s now using COVID to orchestrate the election campaign to her advantage he could just as easily mistake her for the wife of Putin. She is blatantly attempting to steal an election.
She has done her best to gerrymander the election by ensuring no other party or person, apart from herself, has been able to campaign effectively. The Director-General of Health, from whom she says she gets her advice, appears to be in her pocket and playing along with this disgraceful behaviour. Auckland, which she has effectively locked down the whole election cycle, is now going to level two thanks to her magnanimity.

She doesn’t even stick to her own rules. As many will have seen, there she was in Palmerston North taking a selfie with far more than the number of people permitted by her own rules. A great big smile on her face, as wide as the Amazon river, enjoying every moment with her fans from Massey University. She knew exactly what she was doing.
Yesterday, according to Ardern it was a mistake. No it wasn’t. She made the rules but exempted herself. She even had the temerity to go on radio lecturing us to be vigilant.
How convenient that she could have her election launch before a full house yet no other party has been able to. National wasn’t given that privilege.

My reaction would have been to express huge angst that the launch was a deliberate stratagem by Ardern to ensure that she had the advantage.
She has run the COVID levels to suit her election agenda. Under level two for Auckland, having only fifty at a gathering was debated but Bloomfield said one hundred would be fine. Wow, what a kind man. That of course makes him look like he’s his own man when it seems to me that he’s in Ardern’s pouch. He reminds me of Joey the baby kangaroo. She says jump and he asks how high.
Sunday’s COVID Labour Party broadcast was pushed back to two o’clock. Why? One can only assume to coincide with the National Party launch. Not content with denying them a proper launch it appears that she deliberately scheduled the COVID announcement at the same time. That shows how popular she thinks her COVID stand up is. Judith needs to stop being nice and start calling this woman out. Ardern is being allowed to get away with completely unacceptable and reprehensible behaviour.
This is not a fair election by any stretch of the imagination. Ardern’s actions should not be tolerated in our democracy. If she’s not prepared to contest the election on a level playing field then the Electoral Commission should step in and postpone it.
This cowardly behaviour by Ardern,( because that’s what it is), should be brought to a halt. It has no place in New Zealand. To treat the country in the way she has is manifestly unjust.
