If you as a white person do not consider yourself racist then you are out of step with the warped post-modernism view of the world and desperately in need of redemption by application of the critical race theory. You must deny your white privilege and stand up for the oppressed: black power, black lives matter and so on.

Once you are suitably chastened, if you are white and apologetic you are now fashionably “woke,” the colloquial term for the white-skinned breast-beaters apologizing for every historic injustice against coloured people they can think of plus those provided by the real movers and shakers of this destructive movement. It does not matter a whit that the recipients of your proffered “wokeness” disagree with you because this is more about you than the “oppressed”.
It does not matter that the atrocities occurred before your time. It does not matter that “white man’s justice” keeps looters, rapists and murderers from breaking down your doors. The real crime is white man’s law and order and justice which must be stopped! “Get police off the streets!” they scream.
American-born author, mathematician, and political commentator, Dr James Lindsay examines the origins of wokeness in his writing “The Woke Creation Myth”, subtitled “the genesis of injustice”.
Lindsay’s analogy is set in the Garden of Even. In the beginning everyone is equal, no group above another. Justice and equality prevail but peace does not. There is violent conflict but no single group has the upper hand because “all had the same amount of power.” “Each culture saw each other as they were: equal and, most importantly, not oppressed.”
This all changes with the development of a cultural knowledge base. Once acquired, knowledge is defended to the death because it is superior to all others. Justice and equality fall before the rule of a new law and systematic racism kicks in — the process of teaching an inferior culture what and how to think.
Any relationship between Lindsay’s garden of Even and the biblical garden of Eden is reduced to the tree of the knowledge of good and evil provided by the serpent who whispers “take the knowledge and you will be free”. All lies of course. Hegemony prevails and all hell breaks loose. It is true that knowledge is power; the tricky bit is how to use it.
Lindsay is one of a trio of scholars who pulled off an academic hoax several years ago.
“James Lindsay, Helen Pluckrose, and Peter Boghossian—wrote 20 fake papers using fashionable jargon to argue for ridiculous conclusions, and tried to get them placed in high-profile journals in fields including gender studies, queer studies, and fat studies.
Their success rate was remarkable: By the time they took their experiment public late on Tuesday, seven of their articles had been accepted for publication by ostensibly serious peer-reviewed journals.
Seven more were still going through various stages of the review process. Only six had been rejected.”
Two years later Lindsay’s analogy also pokes fun at the notion that knowledge is the ultimate tool in decision making; for example, that peer-reviewed scientific papers must be believed. The truth is they aren’t necessarily any more reliable than information offered by someone from an earlier generation, or the one before that. But not all academics are biased culture warriors.
The hoax papers duped scholars because the readers wanted to believe what was written. In other words, if the reader buys into the premise, even if the science doesn’t make sense, they will support the argument anyway.
This becomes scary when politicians wave around science papers as their justification for judgement calls. COVID is a great example. The government has backtracked on just about everything except lockdown, which we can only hope happens sooner rather than later. In March masks were discounted as unnecessary but in September they became mandatory on public transport.
It’s very difficult to trust the decision makers who arm themselves with science, so if you can’t trust the science, what can you trust?
Underlying Lindsay’s analogy is the concept of domination driving the need for knowledge and ultimately creating oppression. Clearly, you have to look at what motivates the decision maker.
Lushington D Brady does this in his article “Everything you never wanted to know about Queer Theory, but you should” identifying cultural Marxism as the underlying motivation for “queer theory”.
“Queer theory is the bastard great-grandchild of Marxism. As it happens, Marx actually wrote very little directly about gender, and nothing about homosexuality…”
But that doesn’t matter.
“One of the key ideologies of capitalist state repression is gender and sexuality.”
“With the logical clarity that Marxists are famous for, the road twists from cultural Marxism, through deconstruction, critical theory, and post-structuralism, to wind up at queer theory.”
And anything else with the possibility of knocking capitalism off its perch is fair game.
“The cultural Marxists coined the “Long March through the institutions”, the strategy of stealthily infiltrating the institutions of capitalist society and subverting them from within…”
The long March of Marxism has infiltrated our schools, universities and politics.
The University of Auckland has adopted CRT, evident in the Law School’s commitment to excellence in legal education that welcomes “critical applications of feminist theory, critical race theory and post-colonial studies, which are necessary for the proper evaluation of law and legal institutions as well as for their potential reform.”
This is complete nonsense of course. The law must stand on its own merit, not some jaundiced view of a Marxist embracing academic, but given the lack of debate this is unlikely. The extreme left refuses to debate because of the risk of exposing their unattractive underlying philosophy. Instead they adopt the same outlook at our PM, you will do as I say without debate.
Donald Trump is not someone to be left out in the cold and he’s not buying into Marxism. Instead he is confronting CRT and its evil twin, white privilege.
