I was prepared to give National and their new leader a chance, but not now. I find it hard to justify my support for a party, and its leader, when they have shown such ineffectual governance when dealing to the matters of the recently exposed patients’ files. What should have been incriminating evidence directed at the bumbling fools in charge of the quarantine procedures, has instead produced a response which has exposed as evidence, the ham-fisted ignorance of those involved.

It has uncovered the incompetence of their current leadership. It was not a hard ask for them when confronted with this issue, to advance their political capital. If they were unable to expose this appalling lack of security to their political advantage then it must surely raise the question, are they up to it? The answer, in my humble opinion, is no!

I have been a supporter of The National Party for the last fifty-two years and they have received my vote at every election during that period. They weren’t always aligned to my way of thinking but their principles ran parallel to mine. They generally supported and promoted self-reliance. They saw value in enterprise and entrepreneurial endeavours. They exhibited sound fiscal management with the exception of the Muldoon era. In general, they showed depth in business savvy. I felt like they were aware of my values. They lived in the real world and dealt with challenges responsibly. They treated us like intelligent adults.

But now “I’ve lost that loving feeling”.

I believe one of my few virtues is loyalty but I can only take so much. My vote is going to Act. David Seymour has impressed me immensely. A one-man band boxing way above his weight and winning. It would be impossible to agree with every policy announcement from Act, but David’s and Act’s principles are very much aligned with mine. He is bright, he has courage, he has a determination, and above all sees Ardern for what she is. He would destroy her in any head to head debate. Muller appears to me to be a coward. His attempt to be nice and kind like Ardern is no more than an enactment of a submissive puppy. I want to see Ardern ripped to threads and exposed as the political fraud she is. David Seymour, I believe is the person for the job.

Judith Collins should seriously consider teaming up with him. They would be a potent and energetic combination which could return the country to sanity.
