  • Five cases were in Auckland, 1 case in Northland, 1 in Canterbury, 2 in New Plymouth, 2 in Waikato, 1 in Tauranga, 1 in Coromandel, and 1 in Dunedin.
  • 11 have history of international travel. 2 cases have attended World Hereford Conference at Queenstown.
  • 4 probable cases outstanding
  • 1200 tests yesterday, total of 6000 tests thus far.
  • Ruby Princess and Celebrity Solstice passengers repatriating to NZ to enter self-isolation. Some in Australia and yet to return.
  • Alert Level 2 remains in place.
  • Over 70s urged to stay at home and not have contact with others.
  • Attendees at the World Hereford Conference 2020 held in Queenstown may be exposed after an attendee has been diagnosed with COVID-19. They should self-isolated.

Government to spend $56 million on supporting coronavirus-hit Maori communities

  • The Government has earmarked more than $56 million to support Maori communities and businesses feeling the economic impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic.
  • $30 million, has been made available for targeted health funding for Maori.
  • $10 million is for whanau Maori community outreach
  • $15 million will go towards Whanau Ora to reach into Maori communities.
  • $1 million has been made available to provide Maori businesses with advice and planning tools to tackle the economic impact of Covid-19.
