Christmas already! Seems hard to believe. But it is true. It is not fake news. And I hope you are looking forward to a break and some down time with family where possible, enjoying relationships and some summer sun, with slip slop slap of course.
This has been a huge year for us. We have more than doubled our membership this year. We are consistently in second or third place on social media engagement battling the podium with Labour and National, and for one week we were in Gold position! Yes, highest social media engagements for all political parties. The Social media team we have are doing a fantastic job, and continue to look for ways to improve. Well done team!
We are growing at grass roots level as well. We have conveners in almost 2/3 of the electorates now, and we are expecting more action from them in the new year. Some have been very busy this year already arranging public meetings and appearing at fairs and galas. Thanks to all who have been involved with their electorate core team this year. We need teams! There is so much to be done. Sharing the load makes it so much easier. If you have not heard from your convener yet and would like to be involved in the core team for your electorate, please let me know and I will endeavour to get you connected.
We are also so grateful to so many who have contributed financially throughout the year. Of course, there are the regular supporters in the 2020 Team (thanks so much!) but so many others have given generously as well, and we so appreciate this ongoing support. Of course, we are well short of what it will take to run a full-on effective campaign next year, but every bit helps and we are beginning to knock on doors of people who may be able to assist in greater measure.
I personally want to wish you a very merry Christmas. Merry because of the good times you have with family and friends, because of the relaxation of some public holidays even if you don’t take more time out, and because of reflection on the Christ of Christmas, the one whose life and teachings have been such a positive influence on Western Civilisation.
