For all the political left’s furious “MeToo” grandstanding, it might reasonably be asked if the only reason they think all men are rapists is because they judge all men by the men of the left.
As The BFD readers will be well aware, there seems to be an ongoing culture of abetting and concealing sexual abuse and exploitation in the New Zealand Labour party. But it seems that the problem extends across the ditch as well. It’s interesting to note that, of all Australian politicians convicted of various crimes, the crime of child sexual abuse is solely the remit of leftist politicians.
It’s a culture of abuse and secrecy that apparently goes all the way to the top.
The daughter of former Prime Minister Bob Hawke has alleged her father stopped her reporting to police that she’d been raped by one of his political allies out of concern for his career.
If you’re Australian and old enough, you’ll remember how Hawke famously dissolved in tears when journalists raised the fact that his daughter was a heroin addict. How much, though, were they strategic crocodile tears from a politician, with always an eye for his career?
Rosslyn Dillon has alleged in an affidavit lodged as part of a $4 million legal claim lodged in the NSW Supreme Court she was raped multiple times by late Victorian Labor MLC Bill Landeryou, the New Daily’s Samantha Maiden reports.
Ms Dillon said when she told her father at their family home in the bayside Melbourne of Sandringham that she was assaulted by Mr Landeryou, who was the chief organiser behind Hawke’s early push to become PM, he said: “You can’t go to the police. You can’t. I can’t have any controversies right now. I am sorry but I am challenging for the leadership of the Labor Party.”
According to the affidavit, Ms Dillon was struggling with heroin addiction at the time and Hawke used his influence to get her a job in Landeryou’s office while she was living in the family home.
Ms Dillon alleged Mr Landeryou started touching her in sexual ways when they were alone in the office before raping her on three separate occasions around the time her father was preparing to challenge then-Labor leader Bill Hayden.
“He forced me to perform sexual acts. These included him penetrating me with his penis,” Ms Dillon is quoted as saying in the affidavit.
“These instances of sexual assault occurred when, to my knowledge, my father was preparing to challenge the current Leader of the Opposition (Bill Hayden) for the role of Leader of the Labor Party”…
The dates given by Ms Dillon in the affidavit do not correspond with Mr Hawke’s leadership tilt but her sister, Sue Pieters-Hawke, said Ms Dillon had told her and others about the alleged assaults…
“She did tell people at the time. I believe there was a supportive response but it didn’t involve using the legal system.”

The left have fallen over themselves to excoriate the Church, as the truth of its shameful cover-up of decades of child abuse has come to light. Whilst those in the Church responsible for covering up the horrific abuse deserve every ounce of ignominy, the left’s gleeful vindictiveness cannot be seen as anything other than cheap opportunism.
Not to mention the vilest hypocrisy.
The evidence is fast becoming undeniable that organisational cover-ups of child sexual abuse are not at all confined to the Church. Political organisations, particularly on the left, have behaved in exactly the same manner. The only difference is that they’ve never had their feet held to the fire as they deserve.
