Things keep going from bad to worse for Australia’s animal activists. Not only have the loony fanatics behind the wave of terrorising attacks of Australian farmers been stripped of their tax-exempt charitable status, now their friends and relatives lurking in high places in government bureaucracies are coming under investigation.

I know: I laughed, too.

A senior bureaucrat at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) — also the mother of a well-known animal rights activist — has been stood down pending an external investigation into potential links to activist websites.

Lest anyone think this is a bit harsh, remember that the core principle of the public service is that they are supposed to provide disinterested advice and service to the government and the Australian people. A public servant involved in activism – especially extremists who invade the workplaces and homes of law-abiding Australians – is not discharging that duty faithfully.

Julie Delforce, a senior sector specialist in the department’s Agricultural Development and Food Security section, has been the subject of media speculation after her son, renowned activist Chris Delforce, published the Aussie Farms website.

“Dr Delforce has been stood aside from her duties pending the outcome of this external investigation,” a DFAT spokesman said in a statement.

“This investigation will be comprehensive and include a full examination of Dr Delforce’s business interests, including any links to animal activist websites.”

Naturally, the fanatical vegan nutter behind the campaign of intimidation is squealing like a free-range stuck pig. As usual. The same crank who published the personal data of thousands of innocent Australians was remarkably shy when radio host Ray Hadley challenged him to make public his own phone number.

In a statement to the ABC, Chris Delforce said […]”After all the industry’s efforts to frame the animal protection movement as an attack on farming families, I think it’s unashamedly ironic and utterly disgraceful for them to now openly attack my family — who have nothing to do with my animal advocacy work,” Mr Delforce said.

This from the same activist who conveniently left his own family’s cattle farms off his notorious map.

Trade Minister Simon Birmingham said: “the decision by the Department to stand the employee aside while a thorough investigation is completed is both necessary and appropriate”.

Earlier this year, the Federal Government introduced new laws so that a person using a carriage service to promote on farm trespass could be sent to jail for up to five years.

When the laws passed through the parliament, former Agriculture Minister David Littleproud said the new laws would “protect farming families from farm invasions”.

“Aussie Farms organisers have a choice, take your attack map down or go to jail,” Mr Littleproud said.
