[...] What the hell has social media done to us? It seems like almost overnight we’ve become a culture of snitches, bullies, witch-hunters and torch-and-pitchfork-carrying mobs. We lurch about in blind, unthinking rage and hunger, like a horde of zombies from The Walking Dead.
[...] Muller is responsible for allowing the news cycle to be dominated by a red hat instead of front-footing the economic recovery. When Nikki Kaye was questioned over the skin colour of National’s front bench she could have done worse than telling the journalist to bugger off. That would have given the falling National membership a glimmer of hope, instead of placing their heads in their hands while speculation over colonial bed-hopping drowned out economic catastrophe.
[...] But it’s in arguably America’s most Jewish city that antisemitism is worryingly spiking. Not that you’d know it, if you listen to the Trump-deranged mainstream media which obsesses about supposed, often fake, hate crimes against blacks and Muslims. In fact, the real hate crime spike is elsewhere.
A week is a long time in politics and this past week has certainly shown that.
Last Monday the devastating Newshub/Reid Research poll dropped that proved to be the catalyst for a rapid coup against Simon Bridges and Paula Bennett.
On Thursday the 1News/Colmar Brunton finished him off.
I’ll analyse how those two polls led to the coup and how the coup was handled, including the dishonesty of two media commentators.
Then I’ll attempt to map out National’s path to victory, if you can even use such a term.
Finally, I’ll reveal a bit of background skullduggery that we have had to battle for over six years.
I’m Cam Slater, and this is Insight: Politics.
