Seizing the opportunity to come out and ask ‘What’s wrong with them?’ the main-stream media has lazily followed the bait offered by the Otago-Southland branch of the New Zealand Psychological Society whose theme at a conference in Dunedin earlier this month was the psychology behind ‘climate change denial’ and included a public seminar on the topic as well as a “task force” (yes, really) discussing “climate-change deniers psychological make-ups” (yes, really).

This is no real surprise because a core belief of the Climate Supremacist is that those who disagree with them must be mentally unwell, in the same way as dissidents and detractors under all hard-left regimes, whether socialism, communism, fascism or nazism treated those who didn’t buy into their utopian dreams as mentally unwell, oftentimes sending such oddities to re-education camps for their own benefit.

Keynote speaker at the critique session was Marc Wilson of Victoria University who describes his research interests as “Parapsychology, conspiracy theories, paranormal beliefs and religion. Personality, psychopathy, narcissism, profiling, and general evil-ness.” Marc has contributed to several publications discussing such things as ‘Right-wing authoritarianism’, attributing prejudices to the ailment of conservatism, even claiming the knowledge of such moral weakness is “commonly accepted”:

“It is commonly accepted that social dominance orientation (SDO) and right?wing authoritarianism (RWA) are potent unique predictors of a variety of prejudice and prejudice?related constructs…Specifically, both constructs are associated with increasing political conservatism, and the lowest levels of conservatism (or highest levels of political liberalism) are found in those lowest in both SDO and RWA.”

See; stupid? Left-wingers are morally superior – the good professor says so, and not just morally superior, the left is intellectually superior. In an interview aired on RNZ the good ol’ boy couldn’t resist the lefty refrain hinting at conservative dullard-ness, saying they are “less likely to have had four years formal education”. The poor fellow is lightly obsessed, methinks, with his imaginings of the shortcomings of conservatives, possibly the fellow is a conspiracy-theorist in this regard.

Despite, or because of, his cognitive dissonance our good fellow is a brilliant comedian, giving us his hilarious take on the flawed reasoning of global-warming skeptics:

“Often there’s also content that circulates online or social media platforms with things like ‘Doom’s Day predictions by scientists that didn’t come true’, which reaffirms climate change deniers’ disposition to not believe scientists, Prof Wilson says.”

No way, are you’re kidding me? What the very clever fellow is saying is that despite Doom ‘n Gloomers Football Club being unable to equal their predictions of goal-scoring with actual on-field net-hitting there should be no reason to disbelieve they ever will? Fair enough; I suppose, even Shakespeare remarked that ‘the sun shines also on the dung-hill’ or, put another way, every dog will eventually have its day, but then the slightly-mad professor claims:

“It’s a perfectly reasonable concern to raise but I also don’t think it’s an apples to apples comparison.”

Good grief. Of course, it’s an apples-to-apples comparison; how could it not be so? Thank God our ‘professor’ is a psychologist and not an experimental chemist undeterred by failure after ever greater failure; who knows what damage he may have wrought in his basement. Belief in Infallibility is another of the delusions suffered by the Climate Supremacist, and there’s your proof.

Nevertheless, the type of person questioning the ridiculous hyperbole and failed predictions of calamity-merchants is to be examined and considered peculiar. I told you the bloke was hilarious, he should be on the comedy circuit rather than wasting his time looking through his mental microscope for the shortcomings of sceptics.

Oh; physician, heal thyself!
