The woman, who Stuff has chosen not to name, approached HeadQuarters in Auckland’s viaduct through Facebook, asking if they serve vegan food.
Their response made a mockery of her question.
“We can offer you the menu, it’s cardboard, should taste like 97  per cent of vegan food, you could eat that maybe. We’ll cut it in three if you’d like three courses,” the restaurant replied.

They also offered water as an entree with a jug for a main, “frozen if you like solids”.

But then came the clincher, a reference to the restaurant’s pet food, which was also available.

“We have two pet rabbits, Pie and Stew, you could have some of their nuts and lettuce… it’s all carbon neutral food.” […]
