A headline in Stuff today: “Are MPs too old?”

Of course they are. Why on earth would you want MPs who have lived beyond 40? Children are so much wiser now as is consistently exhibited within our current administration. The millennium generation have all the answers. For them, failure was never an option; in fact, most have never experienced failure. In their world they have been protected from the consequences of stupidity. They were caught up in the shower of legislative disinfectant that provided immunity from common sense and replaced it with the arrogance of entitlement and dispensation. They embrace “isms” as a crutch to justify their own frailties.

They intend that each of us be cloned to embrace well being and encompass an eternal tolerance towards all of our fellow beings. In layman’s terms, we must all be nice. We must not be judgmental and be charitable by accepting mediocracy. We can only exhibit feelings that promote positivity, if only to shield the darlings from reality. Kindness is arbitrary regardless of the assorted scumbags we encounter.

The sad reality is that some of these treasures end up in parliament and/or become political activists. The good news is that the vast majority of Millennials have been raised in homes by those of us over 40. They have experienced the wisdom that can only be harnessed through years of living in the real world. Their ambition is to expand the positives that their parents created. If only some of them became MPs. The jackasses we now have in parliament are rapidly dismantling a century of accomplishments and inspiration simply because they can. What would old people know? It may become a surprise to some, but we know weakness, incompetence, inexperience, arrogance, posturing, short-sightedness, dishonesty and most of all? Laziness. That’s our government, and the loudest are all under 40.
