Many songs get covered or re-interpreted, the covers often being more successful than the original.

Here are some cover versions of one song along with the original, let us know in the comments which is your favourite, or if you don’t like any of them.

“Gloria” is a song written by Van Morrison and released in 1964.

It has been covered by many acts including:

The Shadows of Knight released a version in 1965.

The Doors included a version recorded in concert 68-70 on their live album “Alive, She Cried” released in 1983.

Patti Smith covered it on her 1974 debut album “Horses”.

Van Morrison with John Lee Hooker covered it (if you can cover your own song) on Van’s 1993 album “Too Long In Exile”.

Robert Plant with his band The Priory of Brion covered it in concert (1999-2000). No official albums released this is off a bootleg.

Just a bloke getting on with life, seemingly becoming less tolerant, more grumpy and politically incorrect as I go.
