The legacy media stopped even pretending to be neutral observers in 2016. Now Silicon Valley oligarchs are dropping all pretence that they’re not trying to interfere with America’s elections by pushing a leftist agenda. Facebook and Google have already been caught out repeatedly, trying to control the flow of information to internet users – in other words, to almost everybody in the Western world – and push a far-left agenda.

Twitter has likewise long been notorious for silencing conservative users at the drop of a hat while allowing the left free rein to bully, vilify, harass and threaten. For instance, New York Times’ writer Sarah Jeong tweeted a stream of vile racism at white people for years, with absolute impunity. When black conservative Candace Owens repeated some of Jeong’s tweets with “Jews” replacing “white people”, she was suspended by Twitter immediately.

Now, Twitter has shut down the account of one of the most powerful conservative politicians in America – for truthfully reporting violent leftist attacks on his own home.

Twitter has suspended Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s reelection campaign account Thursday after posting a video showing threats against the long-time Kentucky Republican.

[…]The post featured a video, according to The Courier Journal, showing protesters outside McConnell’s home in Louisville who were shouting profanities directed him. The social media company hid the tweet by “Team Mitch” and linked it to its general guidelines and policies page with a message saying it’s “no longer available.” According to Twitter, the account is required to remove the post because it violated its rules before unlocking it.

[McConnell’s campaign spokesperson, Kevin] Golden confirmed Twitter’s suspension and said despite trying to appeal, the company stood by their decision. “This morning, Twitter locked our account for posting the video of real-world, violent threats made against Mitch McConnell.”

“This is the problem with the speech police in America today: The Lexington-Herald can attack Mitch with cartoon tombstones of his opponents,” he added. “But we can’t mock it. Twitter will allow the words ‘Massacre Mitch’ to trend nationally on their platform. But locks our account for posting actual threats against us.”

The left’s double standard in using violent threats while condemning violent rhetoric was slammed by Twitter users.

Daily Wire reporter Ryan Sevaadra noted that CNN journalists were actively promoting the harassment of McConnell, in now-deleted tweets. Sevaadra also posted videos showing the escalating violent rhetoric from the left.

One person says they hope someone uses a “voodoo doll” on McConnell.

Another says they want someone to “just stabs the mother f*cker in the heart”.

The threadbare defence of the social media monoliths that they are mere “platforms” rather than publishers has been demolished beyond all doubt by actions such as this. Twitter, like Google, Facebook and YouTube, have amply demonstrated that they are manipulating their content in order to push an obvious agenda.

It’s one thing to dismiss cries of Big Tech censorship when it comes from people who have those silly red x’s in their profile. It’s another when it’s the F***ING SENATE MAJORITY LEADER.

As Steven Crowder notes, this time, Silicon Valley might have picked a fight with the wrong guy.

I don’t think Twitter knows what they’ve done. Because now they’re messing with Cocaine Mitch […] Prepare for him to deplatform a chalk outline around Jack Dorsey’s body. 2020 will be nothing but hearings on regulating Big Tech as a public utility. Does McConnell want to regulate Big Tech as a public utility? It doesn’t matter. He’ll keep the hearings going just because F*** You.

You called down the thunder this time, Twitter.
