The Irish whiskey industry was stagnant for a long time since the mid-1980s but it is very far away from that now. Lots of new distilleries are popping up and one of my most favourite is Teeling.

Teeling is the Spirit of Dublin, it is the only working distillery in Dublin.

In March 2015 the Teeling Whiskey Distillery was opened. The first new distillery in Dublin in over 125 years.

Their flagship release Small Batch is an attempt to create the most interesting Blended Irish Whiskey. The small-batch consists of hand-selected casks which are given further maturation in ex-rum barrels.

Bottled at 46% with no chill filtration.

Nose:

Lovely vanilla and spice mix with sweet smells of rum too.

Taste:

It is a very approachable whiskey, which despite being quite high in alcohol comes across smooth. Sweet, woody and little spice.

Finish:

Spice from rum casks lingers.
